Abstract: Artificial Intelligence continues to increase in capability. For me, AI is a substitute for neither planning nor execution, but is a cognitive partner. I refer to it as my general-purpose thinking partner. I have used it for, among other things, statistical analysis, data format conversion, and the planning of videos for educational outreaches. I mostly use OpenAI’s GPT and Sora 2, and occasionally Google’s Gemini and xAI’s Grok. AI greatly accelerates the process of converting our in-house mosquito data to the format used by Vectorsurv. I have used AI to help me create experimental designs to study the efficacy of various mosquito attractants. I have used it to conduct literature reviews and to help crystalize my thoughts when planning new projects. I have used ElevenLabs’ text-to-voice program in combination with the Hedra image-to-video program to create digital clones of myself to use in presentations, including one for Mosquito Day. In October, I used GPT and Sora 2 to help me create a 3-minute educational video for Pre-K and kindergarten students. It is my belief that AI technology is still in its infancy, and that it will not only revolutionize the field of mosquito control, but will dramatically alter our entire society.
