Abstract: The BG-Pro is a modular trap often used in mosquito collection efforts that can be arranged into a CDC, EVS, or Sentinel-style configuration. Comparative studies have shown that each BG-Pro trap style meets or exceeds the trapping efficacy of the stand-alone CDC miniature light trap, the BG-Sentinel, and EVS traps. An additional trap style is possible with the BG-Pro. With the addition of a gravid water collection tub and spanning support bracket, the BG-Pro can be converted into an effective and easy to use gravid trap. The fan unit and collection bag are inverted and placed on the bracket with the fan trap opening oriented just above the attractant infused water. Mosquitoes seeking an oviposition sight are drawn up and into the net. Although mosquitoes pass through the fan, specimen quality is retained with little to no loss of specimen numbers. Future studies comparing the BG-Pro gravid configuration to standard industry gravid traps are warranted.
