Abstract: In 2019, the Northeast Regional Center for Excellence in Vector-Borne Diseases (NEVBD) initiated the first insecticide resistance monitoring program for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions in the United States. We developed a larval bioassay to test for larvicide resistance to three commonly used larvicides (Bti, L. sphaericus, and methoprene). Specimens targeted for resistance testing included Aedes albopictus, Culex pipiens, Culex restuans, and Culiseta melanura according to regional partner priorities. Those partners collected specimens and submitted them to Cornell University for testing. We will review how specimens were submitted for testing and how the larval assay protocol was developed. Additionally, we will present seven years of larval resistance surveillance data and discuss the results in the context of broader regional resistance trends and areas for future investigation.
