Abstract: La Crosse encephalitis (LACE), a predominantly pediatric arboviral disease, is a persistent public health challenge in western North Carolina. We established field protocols for case residence investigations, evaluating household member exposure, mosquito habitat, vector abundance, and environmental risk factors. Findings underscore the importance of timely investigations and clinician awareness for preventing recurrent pediatric cases. Our study establishes a foundation for sustained LACE case responses, community education, and enhanced preparedness for arboviral threats.
