Abstract: Mosquito control programs require novel chemical control tools due to widespread resistance to conventional pesticides, such as pyrethroids. Our research is evaluating the hemp plant as a potential natural and sustainable resource for novel mode of action pesticides to control mosquitoes. Here we assess the pesticidal activities of plant extracts and specific secondary metabolites (e.g., cannabinoids) against larval and adult female Aedes aegypti. Furthermore, we tested toxicity against important non-target insects, honeybees and ladybeetles.
