Operations Manager Contra Costa Mosquito and Vector Control District, California, United States
Abstract: The Contra Costa Mosquito and Vector Control District (CCMVCD) is undertaking a crucial, multi-faceted journey toward Zero Carbon Energy, driven by the necessity of updating aging facilities and meeting evolving operational needs and compliance requirements. This presentation will detail the District's strategic approach to modernizing its infrastructure, a vital process given that the existing facilities date back to 1985 with a 1997 expansion. CCMVCD remains focused on incorporating emerging technologies to support both mission-critical work and long-term sustainability.
We will provide an in-depth look at how internal operational needs and external regulatory shifts directly shaped the District’s decisions, specifically in the successful adoption of solar panels to offset electrical consumption, the strategic integration of electric vehicles (EVs) into the fleet, and the simultaneous development of robust charging infrastructure to support this transition.
This comprehensive modernization effort includes facility upgrades such as energy-efficient lighting and upgraded HVAC systems, aligning with the District's commitment to utilize 100% renewable energy as a “Deep Green customer”. Attendees will gain practical insights into the planning, challenges, and long-term operational benefits of executing an electrification strategy within a public health agency.
