Dr. Melissa S. Nolan is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Director of the Laboratory for Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases at the University of South Carolina. Her research investigates the social, ecological, and biological drivers of arboviral and parasitic diseases in the Americas. Dr. Nolan leads multiple federally funded studies integrating epidemiologic fieldwork, laboratory diagnostics, and geospatial analytics to improve early detection and prevention of diseases such as dengue, Chagas, and West Nile virus. Her translational research emphasizes community-based surveillance and the development of predictive systems to guide evidence-based interventions.
