Operations Program Coordinator
Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District, California, United States
Hello, my name is Antonio Molina, but I go by Tony. I am the Operations Program Coordinator for the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District.
I have a long-standing career with our District, which began 17 years ago as a seasonal technician back in 2006. I later became a full-time premises inspector for the Red Imported Fire Ant Program. Subsequently, I worked as a Vector Control Technician I and II. After that, I made a career change within the District and spent 9 years as an Information Technology/Geographic Information Systems Assistant in the Information Technology Department.
As an Operations Program Coordinator, I oversee the District’s vector control programs and field operations. My responsibilities include developing, planning, coordinating, prioritizing, and reviewing various control programs, such as the red imported fire ant maintenance bag program, the pool program, and special projects. I ensure the accuracy of pesticide inventory, provide training to field staff, monitor the operation budget, and assess the effectiveness of our integrated vector management program. I work with other agencies, community associations, and property owners, to promote and support long term solutions to vector sources.
One of the most satisfying aspects of my current role is planning and coordinating our control efforts. Each day, I have the opportunity to strategize and implement initiatives that directly impact our communities. Working alongside a dedicated district team, we are fostering positive change and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve by protecting public health.
A passion for making a difference fuels my commitment, and I look forward to strengthening our team's relationship with the community to effectively reduce, control, and prevent disease-carrying vectors such as mosquitoes. I plan on dedicating myself to this cause for another decade or more.
