Caroline Efstathion, Ph.D., is the Southeast Regional Director for VDCI where she is responsible for overseeing mosquito abatement programs in the southeast of the United States. She received her doctorate in entomology from the University of Florida. Before joining VDCI, she worked at Volusia County Mosquito Control where she headed up their research and arbovirus surveillance programs. She also worked at Anastasia Mosquito Control as their molecular entomologist, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services as a mosquito control outreach specialist for the Northeast region, and was a microbiology professor at St. Johns’ River State College and Florida Atlantic University. She is currently the President of the Georgia Mosquito Control Association and the Chair of the National Environmental Health Association’s Vector Committee.
