PhD Candidate
Arizona State University, Arizona, United States
Annika is a 5th year PhD candidate in the Environmental Life Sciences program at Arizona State University. She studies how microclimatic variables such as temperature and relative humidity affect mosquito life history traits. Annika focuses specifically on Aedes aegypti mosquitoes since they are an invasive, urban loving species that have become prevalent in Central and Southern Arizona. Currently, Annika is working on experiments to study how the fitness of Aedes aegypti changes in response to a variety of specific temperature and humidity conditions. This research can help us learn more about how well they will survive in many different environments. Annika’s overall research goal is to collect data that helps to build better disease prediction models.
