Dr. Claudia Riegel serves as the Director of the New Orleans Mosquito, Termite, and Rodent Control Board, where she has advanced through the ranks during her 20 years of service. She earned her B.S. in Plant Molecular Biology from Purdue University, M.S. in Plant Pathology from the University of Georgia, and Ph.D. in Nematology from the University of Florida. After completing her doctorate, she worked in private industry with Dow AgroSciences, providing technical support and collaborating with universities, government agencies, and customers on urban pest management projects. Joining the City of New Orleans in 2004, Dr. Riegel now oversees research, product evaluation, and technical support for both the city and the pest control industry. Her work spans mosquitoes, termites, rodents, and other urban pests, and she remains active in professional societies, authors educational materials, and frequently presents at national and international pest management and public health conferences.
