María A. Roubert Pacheco is an environmental and public health professional from Ponce, Puerto Rico, with extensive experience in vector surveillance, field research, and public health education. She holds a Master’s in Environmental Public Health from the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus, and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science from the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras.
Currently, María serves as the Team Lead for the Surveillance Component of the Bayamón Integrated Vector Management (IVM) Project at the Puerto Rico Vector Control Unit (PRVCU). In this role, she leads surveillance operations, oversees data collection and quality control, and provides training to field teams to strengthen mosquito control and prevention strategies.
Before joining PRVCU, María worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she contributed to research and fieldwork focused on the biology, ecology, and control of Aedes aegypti. Her combined experience in federal and local public health initiatives reflects her strong commitment to disease prevention, environmental stewardship, and the well-being of communities across Puerto Rico.
