Samantha Rodriguez is finishing up her first year as a PHEFA fellow, working at the CDC division of vector borne diseases in the arboviral diseases branch in Fort Collins CO on the Ecology and Entomology team. She earned her bachelors of science in Public Health at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She has is interests in vector competence and disease ecology research, and is looking to apply to grad school programs in microbiology, pathology, or virology. She has over two years of experience in public health research, having worked in both human research labs and arthropod research labs. She has worked with culicoides, culicidae, arachnids, plecoptera, trichoptera,and other diperans.
