Postdoctoral Fellow
Stanford University
Dr. Váleri Vásquez is a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University and an incoming Assistant Professor in the Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her research develops mathematical frameworks to render infectious disease management more robust to environmental uncertainty and scientific software for the model-guided development of strategic policymaking in public health. Dr. Vásquez's postdoctoral work applies empirical dynamic modeling to investigate the predictability of climate-sensitive disease outbreaks, including extreme dengue events, from ecological signals. She completed her PhD at UC Berkeley (dissertation: "Modelling and Optimization for Climate-Aware Genetic Biocontrol in Public Health"). Prior to her doctorate she specialized in international climate policy at the U.S. Department of State. Dr. Vásquez holds an MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science as well as an MS in Energy and Resources, both from UC Berkeley, and a BA from the College of William and Mary.
