Dr. Julieanne Miranda-Bermúdez brings more than a decade of experience in public health, including collaborations with the University of Puerto Rico, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention during the Zika response, and extensive leadership within the Puerto Rico Vector Control Unit (PRVCU). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences, a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Environmental Health, and a Doctorate in Public Health, all from the University of Puerto Rico. Her doctoral research examined community knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to Aedes aegypti, the primary vector of dengue, Zika, and chikungunya in Puerto Rico. Dr. Miranda-Bermúdez also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Puerto Rico Graduate School of Public Health. Since joining PRVCU nine years ago, she has played a central role in developing and leading community mobilization and engagement efforts, advancing through multiple leadership positions to her current role as Program Director. In this capacity, she oversees all programmatic, operational, and administrative functions, ensuring the effective implementation of PRVCU’s mission across surveillance and monitoring, vector control, and community engagement. Her leadership also extends to international collaborations in El Salvador and Peru.
