Martin Geier studied biology in Regensburg and investigated the sense of smell of mosquitoes in his master’s thesis and doctor’s thesis. He did post-doc work in the Department of Entomology at the University of California in Riverside where he concentrated on the orientation of insects according to scents. After returning to Germany, he became director of the mosquito work group at the Institute of Zoology in Regensburg. He then founded Biogents, the company that is famous for its mosquito traps and lures.
