Research Fellow
Noguchi Memorial. Institute for Medical Research, Greater Accra, Ghana
Dr. Kwadwo Kyereme Frempong is a Medical Entomologist and a Research Fellow in the Department of Parasitology, Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research with expertise in Molecular Entomology/Parasitology and a special interest in malaria and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). His research focuses on genetic changes of the malaria vector associated with insecticide resistance and the mechanisms involved. Further using this information to develop molecular tools for monitoring resistance in vector populations. Dr. Frempong is also involved in identifying unique genetic markers of blackflies (Simulium damnosum) and O. volvulus parasites to delineate onchocerciasis transmission zones in Ghana, as well as using these population genetics data to validate onchocerciasis simulation models for assessing impact of MDA and predicting elimination timelines. Dr. Frempong is currently the President of the Pan-African Mosquito Control Association (PAMCA), Ghana Chapter.
