Ivy Hurwitz is a scientist and innovator focused on environmentally sustainable controls for disease-bearing insects. As a Research Professor at the Center for Global Health of the University of New Mexico, she has worked on paratransgenic approaches to disrupt disease transmission in insect vectors and is a co-inventor of yeast-encapsulated essential oils for mosquito control. Through the National Science Foundation’s I-Corps program, Ivy explored the market potential, regulatory landscape, and commercialization pathways for this larvicide technology. Her work bridges academic research and product development to translate scientific discoveries into practical solutions.
