Public Information Officer
Miami-Dade County Solid Waste Management Mosquito Control Division, Florida, United States
Michael Mut graduated Cum Laude from Florida International University School of Communication + Journalism with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1998. He began his career in marketing the next year while working for a music distributor, preceding stints in the retail management, healthcare education, and skin care industries. Michael launched his own boutique public relations / social media firm Mut Communications in 2007, which is still active today. He began working for Miami-Dade County Government as a Public Information Officer in April of 2017.
Mut lists his ability to write clearly and concisely for all types of mediums as a skill that has taken him very far. The best pieces of advice given to him are that he is not defined solely by his work, and that he shouldn’t take anything personally. The biggest mistake he made was not securing an internship in the communications field during and just after college.
He’s a married father of three, and moonlights as a professional performing and recording artist on the bass guitar and vocals. On his very scant spare time, he enjoys reading books and e-books about politics, history, and his favorite musicians, listening to political podcasts, and obsessing over fantasy football.
