Dr. Michael Reiskind has studied mosquitoes since 1998, working on dengue fever epidemiology in Peru as part of an MPH at the University of Michigan. He continued his studies with a PhD, also from the University of Michigan, on the behavior of Culex mosquitoes during the initial spread of West Nile across the United States. He then complete post-doctoral training at the Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory on container Aedes, before starting his first faculty position at Oklahoma State University. In 2012 he moved to North Carolina State University, where he is now a professor in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology, as well as the Director of Graduate Programs. His research is generally on vector ecology, with current projects on mosquito diversity, tick distribution and behavior, the evolution of insecticide resistance, and malaria vector control.
