Abstract: Wetland management within the Sacramento–Yolo District presents complex challenges for mosquito control due to the diversity of habitat types, regulatory objectives and constraints, competing land-use ownership, and varied priorities. This presentation examines some of the integrated strategies and collaborative frameworks that the District utilizes to implement Mosquito Reducing Best Management Practices (BMPs) considering both habitat and mosquito control objectives. The District’s approach emphasizes balancing public health with land management objectives through the implementation of BMPs, environmental review, vegetation and water conveyance management, adaptive hydrological schedules, along with Cost-share Fall Flooding treatment programs. The District seeks to strengthen stakeholder engagement and promote long-term, ecosystem-based mosquito management within regional wetland systems.
