Daniel (Dan) Huff has over 25 years of high-level leadership experience in public health, education, and environmental stewardship. Previous to MMCD, he was Assistant Commissioner for the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) where he served four years overseeing the Environmental Health Division, Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Prevention and Control Division, and the Public Health Laboratory during the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to MDH, Dan was the Director of Environmental Health for the city of Minneapolis. He started his career as a high school science teacher.
Dan received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and his Master of Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota. When not at work, Dan spends as much time as possible canoeing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, playing cribbage with his wife of 28 years or talking to his son and daughter who have both left the nest.
